The ICSP is a professional association reflecting and promoting the best in sustainability practice, research and reporting – all towards creating a momentum towards development which meets the needs of those living today without jeopardizing those seeking the same in the future.
For both individual and organization members in business, academia and non-governmental areas, the ability to gain confidence among people who have a benchmarked certification along globally standard lines is a primary aim of the institute. In addition to building confidence in quality, the ICSP is aiming to set professional standards to help ensure that users and providers can be on the same page.
Within an already established network of graduates, now fulfilling roles within the National Committee on Sustainability Reporting, the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners will be expanding its role in the key areas previously under the NCSR as well as establishing an Ethics Board, Professional Standards Board, Examination and Certification Board, and Members Obligations and Requirements Board.
Though the field of sustainability itself provide a powerful incentive, ICSP will be encouraging a Continuous Professional Accreditation in the social, environmental, and economic as well as risk and governance areas to meet the evolving demand both from international and national business and government bodies. Once feasible, ICSP will be assuming leadership from NCSR in holding the annual Sustainability Reporting Awards, which is approaching its 10th year.
In short, the ICSP will be promoting the disciplined and optimistic endeavors to encourage all organizations and sustainability practitioners to achieve the best in sustainability practice and reporting.
